The Night Before The Parade

Monday, November 27, 2017

We headed in to New York City on Wednesday.  We got a hotel room for the night and were going to wake up early Thursday morning to see the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade.  On the Wednesday agenda was making it to a few of the big stores to see the holiday windows, making it up to the Natural History Museum to see the balloons being blown up and a nice dinner.  We made it to Saks Fifth Avenue to see the Snow White window display, which was fabulous. Then we waited in line to see the balloons. After we walked around Rockefeller Center and then ended up at La Masseria for some of the best Italian food! I took so many pictures of the parade those will come in another post!

Some quick tips for seeing the balloons blow up....

1. Get there on time! We got there around 3:30 and after being rerouted down Columbus there was a line to get in...including bag check! We talked to a family at the hotel afterwards who got in line at 5:30, they waited till 7:30 to get in and still had another hour to go, unfortunately they stop letting people in at 8 so they left and never got to see the balloons.

2. This really goes without saying but....dress warm. It was chilly, but once the sun went down it was cold and breezy!

3.  Bring water and snacks.

4. Taking the subway up and back was a great inexpensive way to get there from Midtown.  There is a direct line.

5.  Have fun and take lots of pictures!
